Most Common Problem:
While 90% of the time the installation process will go by with out any problems there are a few times that Windows will not set up the drivers properly. To check this you simply go into the Device manager and look for anything that has the Yellow explanation points in front of it. The idea here is to identify the problem items and correct them by manually directing the New Hardware Found Wizard to the proper directory on the CD ROM that came with your purchase.

Windows will occasionally find a driver that it thinks will work with this card and try to use it resulting in a Black screen where the video should be displayed. We are going to be removing the driver that it used and directing it to the proper driver.

While this page will be working with Windows XP the process if the same for Windows 98, ME, and 2000. The only difference is the way that you get to the various screens in Windows.

Click on START, then CONTROL PANEL, then SYSTEM, then click on the HARDWARE tab, then click on the DEVICE MANAGER button.

Below Is an example of what the device manager will look like if the is a problem.
Notice that in this case the problem is under the Other Devices heading.

You might also find the problem under the
Sound, Video and Game Controllers heading as seen below.

Either way this is what you need to do to correct the problem.
Left Click on one of the items to highlight it.
Right Click on the highlighted item and select UNINSTALL or Delete
Do this to all the items that have the yellow Explanation Point in front of them.
Then, Click on ACTION at the top of the Device manager screen.
Then click on SCAN for hardware changes.

The Found Hardware Wizard will run and find the NEW hardware.

By default the top radio button is selected.
We don't want that.
Select the bottom button.

We want the bottom radio button to be selected
"Install from a specific location" as shown below.
Click on the NEXT button.

As shown below type in:
D:\CA-801\Driver

Here we used D: but you will need to put the drive letter of your CD ROM which is usually D:

Click Next

At this point you may get a screen that says "The hardware has not Passed the Microsoft Digital Signature" or something like that. Click on Continue anyway.

Now wait anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds depending on the speed of your PC. Windows will find new hardware again. You will need to go through this process two times for each card you install in the computer.

The first time through you will see
"BT878, WDM Video Capture"
and on the second time through you will see
"BT878, WDM Audio Capture"

I'm not sure why there is an audio capture. I think it's a trick they are doing to use the audio channels for video but if you some how manage to figure out how to get this system to record audio let me know. I will pay you! Ha!

Now go back into the device manager to make sure that everything looks right.
It should look like this:
